This past Saturday, I spoke at the Rose Hulman institute of Technology Startup! Conference on the topic of “Overcoming Barriers to Entry”. The event was themed around the topics of technology and innovation. The purpose of the day-long conference was to bring together students, alumni, experienced entrepreneurs and young rock star entrepreneurs to inspire the various audiences by opening their eyes to entrepreneurial opportunities and thinking. I had a wonderful time, and truly enjoyed speaking to such an eager group intelligent minds.
A few days ago myself, along with InfraWare team members Brian Throneburg and Andrea McPherson flew over to Bentonville, AR and Houston, TX to meet with a few of our customers. We had a smooth flight and had a wonderful time talking about the healthcare industry, the new Meaningful Use Stage 2 Requirements and how InfraWare can help overcome obstacles facing transcription companies. This is a picture Brian took from the passenger side of the Cessna looking over the shore of the Gulf near Houston:

The Regional WI-MN AHDI group knows how to do a conference. I had the pleasure of addressing them for the second year in a row. Last year was La Crosse, WI. This year was Wauwatosa, WI (Milwaukee). The audience was highly engaged as we navigated the impact of market dynamics and government regulation on technology trends. It was good to see that they were particularly interested in the Health Story Project, Consildated CDA and the Meangingful Use Stage 2 requirements that were recently finalized.
I didn't get a photo inside the event, but here is a nice shot of the Chicago skyline under our Cessna as we flew up from central Indiana to Milwaukee over Lake Michigan.

On Saturday, October 6th at 2:15 pm, I will be speaking at the regional WI-MN AHDI Meeting and Convention. The event will take place at the Radisson Hotel in Wauwatosa, WI. For program updates and registration information, visit http://www.wi-mn-ahdi.com. I hope to see you there!

This morning I attended a content seminar titled “Techpoint: New Economy New Rules”. While the seminar itself was held in Indianapolis, IN; I was able to attend a live telecast over at Rose Hulman Ventures. It was very informative and included information on social media and how it could be used properly in the business workspace.

This past week the InfraWare team attended AHDI's Annual Conference and Expo (ACE) in Indianapolis, IN at the JW Marriott. This year’s conference is on our home turf, and made for a great opportunity to get many members of the InfraWare team involved in the festivities. The hotel was wonderful and it was a great opportunity to meet with existing customers, prospective customers and industry partners. Below is a picture of the booth we had set up along with a few members of the InfraWare team.

InfraWare has been working hard this year to bring many new products and features to the InfraWare 360 Platform. This includes Secure Email, A new release of First Draft, Dictation Schedule, and huge Knowledgebase upgrades. And now we're adding another huge installment with the release of InfraWare Mobile. InfraWare Mobile is our new mobile application that runs on Apple's iOS line of devices (iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch). It allows physicians to perform dictations, view their dictation schedule, monitor the progress of a job on the InfraWare 360 platform, review and eSign documents and view completed documents!

InfraWare is a proud supporter of the Health Story Project and the initiative to produce data standards for the flow of information between common types of healthcare documents and electronic health records. “Through the consolidation and harmonization effort, the project addressed minor areas of ambiguity within the specific Standards Final Rule requirement to implement HL7 Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) Release 2, Continuity of Care Document” -Health Story Project. This is a huge step for the Health Story Project in that Consolidated CDA is now a recommended standard for clinical documents supporting Meaningful Use Stage 2.

Just arrived in Charlotte, NC for the CDIA board meeting. Flew the 340 down. There was a nice tailwind to yield a 250mph ground speed. Took right at 2hrs. Here is the view en route from the right window.

On Thursday evening, we had our annual holiday party. Pictures probably shouldn't be allowed, but someone passed this innocuous one along of Nathan, Liz and Debbie. Was a good time for all.
